What do you guys think about the idea that dark energy is just an emergent phenomenon linked to the universe's tendency to increasing entropy?
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to me. Dark energy is one of the only things in the universe that doesn't obey time symmetry. This fits perfectly to the profile of an entropic force. It could sort of act as cosmic scale brownian motion, can't it?

What the flying fuck are you talking about mate.

"Dark energy" isn't a thing, it's a placeholder term describing what might be a dozen different interactions that we haven't figured out ye. When we know what "dark energy" IS, we won;t be calling it "dark energy", we'll have a proper name for it.

Completely disagree. Physics isn't just about creating models, it's about trying to come up with the most complete explanation. Answering "why" and "what" is just as important as answering "how".

Dark energy is just a term that scientists use for what they don't know.

Dark energy could obey time symmetry, but we do not know enough about dark energy to confirm your theory.
