>go into mech-E class
>everyone wants to work for a car company or boeing
>every single one
there aren't enough jobs, you fags
>>
Literally any engineering degree. For Chem E, it's DuPont or 3M. Luckily, I'm going off to grad school and will have guaranteed internships
>>
>>8705892
>go into mech-E class
>literally no one likes math or knows anything about it
>nobody likes physics
>only about half the class are even interested in how things work, how to take them apart and fix them

sad tbqh
>>
>>8705892
actually thats not true. GM always has tons of openings because nobody wants to live in detroit.
>>
>>8705953

>am I special yet guyz?! XDXDXddd man I love to have a inflated ego! haha!
>>
>>8705974
>implying implications
Get fucked, faggot. I was expecting people in engineering to at least know what a sine and cosine are and show some interest in the things they're learning
>>
>>8705982

>Oh man I sure love to increase my ego over how superior I think I am to all these fucking normiez XDXDXDxddddddddd
>>
>>8705982
its because advisers in highschool aren't there to help students find out what they want to do, they're just there to make sure no one shoots up the school.
>>
>2017
>Any engineering degree

why.... just why? Just do CS and move on with your life
>>
>>8705992
>oh man I sure showed that guy, ebin troled
>god forbid anyone ever so much as imply there might be a problem with their peers
>fucking ego maniacs, don't they know we're all equal and proud people go to hell
>>
>>8705995
because frat bros google "highest paying degree" and just pick the first one that comes up
>>
>>8705982
engineering is 90% feels and intuition. the math is just there to optimize a design you know already works and to cover your ass in court.
>>
>>8705997

>XDxd I have all these maths so up my ass I dont even know what ego is lmao fuck philosophy am I smart yet? damm I am so superior hehehehe!
>>
>>8705982
In what fucking engineering class do people not know basic trigonometry?

Either you're talking shit or that whole class fails their very first math courses.
>>
>>8706011
Bitter brainlet is bitter
>>
>>8705948
>Luckily, I'm going off to grad school and will have guaranteed internships

Which of all the
"GO ON TO GRADUATE SCHOOL AT OUR UNIVERSITY FOR UNLIMITED OPPORTUNITIES!"
ads told you this?
>>
>>8705953
CS is even worse.

>I fucking hate coding bro, I just want a job
>I just wanna make games, fuck this algorithm shit
>I'm not really into technology, I just wanna make money
>bro, linear algebra is KILLING ME. hardest shit I've ever had to do in my life
>>
>>8706000
>>8705892
Seriously this, my University is full of Petroleum/Aerospace/Mech-E's that are seriously just frat dudes that don't give two shits about anything other than fucking and drinking. I'm glad I switched to EE because that's just full of Indians and autistic spaz's who jerk off over Minecraft porn. There is the occasional person though that legitimately likes making things and learning and that makes it worth while.
>>
>>8705953
Maybe they like MechE but they are not autistic about it like you.
>>
enjoy working on them HVAC systems you keks
>>
>>8707678
HVAC tech here, what were you guys smoking when you York guys designed your package units, holy fuck they are stupid to work on. Lennox on the other hand, those engineers know what they are doing.
>>
>>8707641
>seriously just frat dudes that don't give two shits about anything other than fucking and drinking
how? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE IN AMERICA?
I'm a eastern european and I cry everyday because I didn't study well in school. Now I can't enroll into a university even through money
>>
>>8707703
In America, money = studying well.

be glad you weren't born in a shithole
>>
>>8707639
Holy shit I'm glad I'm in a good CS program when I read shit like this.
>>
>>8707703
>>8707715
Seriously though, there's more cases than I can count of "lol bro my dad is a (doctor/car salesman/Oil person/big money person) and pays for my tuition, new sports car, housing, food, clothing, and pretty much everything else. My frat bro's push the pledges to do our homework and i study maybe like 2 hours a week lol."

Am I jealous? Yes, obviously. Working to stay alive kind of blows when people your same age are living like that.
>>
>>8707738
I'm jealous of you, I work for 350 euros per month 10 hours a day
>>
>>8707740
Fuck man, that sucks. What do you do?
>>
>>8707748
Construction work. It's not a nice job and my boss keeps calling his workers retards and all other kinds of insults and the worst part I can't do shit about it.
4chan, space and anime are the only things keeping me alive at this point.
>>
>>8707639
I'm one of those fags that wants to make games but at least I like math and algorithms
>>
>>8705892
Stop talking to first year students.
>>
>>8707639

ironically, games development is one of the most difficult career paths for someone in software
>>
>>8706000
>because frat bros google "highest paying degree" and just pick the first one that comes up

This is me (Pet Eng/Resource Eng). I picked my degree based on challenge, chance of international job and adventure. Most important however, were the potential rewards. Pity the oil and resource market are not doing so well anymore. I am even in a frat. Dad pays my bills. Thinking about changing majors. I am not proud of these facts, but I am not ashamed either. I think there's a lot to say for wanting to secure your future.
>>
>>8707959
I literally searched for "highest paying degree" and still do regularly. I advice some who haven't have found their passion/interest yet to do this too. You've got to start somewhere. I am glad I have enrolled in engineering. I am enjoying many of the subjects. Shame I haven't got the talent for it, but I make that up by working hard, and developing skills that set me apart from the average grad.
>>
>>8707971
I changed a lot btw. Thinking about applying for an internship at ESA and/or Interstellar Resources (and the like).
>>
>>8707639
>bro, linear algebra is KILLING ME. hardest shit I've ever had to do in my life

lol
>>
>>8707981
lol. good luck
thems some competitive programs
>>
>>8708034
>>>8707981 (You)
>lol. good luck
>thems some competitive programs

Thanks. Big part of ESA's budget goes into Remote Sensing. That's were I hope some of my specialization might give me an edge.

Most of GM's jobs are not located in Detroit. That's just where their corporate headquarters is. Downtown is nice and you could certainly live anywhere in the surrounding metro region.
>>
>>8708081
>>8705962

Engineering student near Detroit area here. Good luck working for somebody other than the auto industry. And SE Michigan isn't too shabby a place to live an engineer. There are suburbs with money near good jobs and there's plenty to do.
>>
>>8705974
>>8705953
ehhh I agree with the guy that states there should be an interest in physics and math

Having been in similar circumstances, it's frustrating to collaborate on projects with students whom aren't interested in applying the fundamentals

but also agree with you that these fundamentals in mechanics are seldom used in theory when working

>t. Civil Engineer
>>
>>8706026
Maybe the intro classes where some students are still taking precal
>>
>>8706026
An entry level high school class
t. took an entry level engineering class in high school. they let in a lot of freshmen, much to my chagrin.
