Why don't they teach about higher dimensional shapes (like hypercube, pentaracts, etc) in middle or high school?
>>

Because its retarded. and kids will not understand it.

Same reason we don't teach quantum mechanics, its a field filled with bullshit online, and for a non-physicist, its very hard to tell the difference.
>>

i know all about the tessaract
>>
>pentaract

"Flatland" should be required reading. I don't think we should teach higher-dimensional stuff by these meme names (e.g. tessaract), but to introduce these ideas of higher dimensions using analogies (like in Flatland) can only be beneficial to later understanding in math.
>>
Because many would fail to grasp the basic concept that what we can see as a tesseract is a projection.
>>
>>8698406
kids wouldn't be able to understand it.

I vaguely remember something about teaching middle schoolers calculus. With enough brute force most could regurgitate what they were taught, but they were horrid at conceptualizing what was going on.

There's a struggle with trying to teach at younger ages to makeup for the exponential growth of our knowledge, but kids are still kids. They can only do so much.

It would be easier if there was at least one simple, useful thing you could do with hyper spacial dimensions.
>>
>>8698406
Because you would need to explain what a dimension is first, and thus teach linear algebra to high school mouthbreathers.
good luck with that

Kids already complain about learning complex numbers, you really think they'll give a shit about something as abstract as higher dimensional geometry?

because most kids in middle and highschool are too stupid to understand math with three dimensional shapes.

Linear algebra is touched on even before highschool, I'm pretty sure.

But what benefit would higher dimensional shapes give kids anyway? I figure that's the reason. Expanding the curriculum, increasing the cost. Needs a good return.

because linear algebra (which surprise, also deals with higher diemensions) is arguably more useful than meme geometry. ans if you will be telling them about literal garbage in maths so early, there's a chance that some of them will grow up to be useless meme spouting pop-sci faggots. which is something we don't want.

>>8698458
pop-sci books are considered harmful

Flatland pretty much flattens any further stupid questions about dimensions and shit.
