Why we still use oil? Is there any scientific reason or is it just capitalism?

Yeah, I'm gonna say capitalism is at the root of it.
For example: It's no coincidence that almost 100% of Republicans are skeptics or deniers -- just follow the money

Come on OP it's easy to see oil is the sweetest thing we ever found on earth.

What kind of magic would a socialist country use?

>commerce ceases to exist in a "socialist" country
First of all, there's no one-size-fits-all socialist system. And I'm not anti-capitalism, I'm just pointing out that money and greed are the main reasons why we haven't made greater efforts to switch to cleaner, renewable energy sources.

most dense energy source
millions of years of algae
there's alot of it my dude, 40 bucks a barrel is not that bad for those joules
even ignoring the fuel parts of oil. oil provides too many useful hydrocarbons to ever stop being used.
There's a lot of it, it's cheap and it stores a lot of energy. When you burn it, you get a lot of energy and also that smoky stuff that eventually become stars.

cleaner, renewable energy sources are all significantly less efficient than oil and would make society objectively poorer as a whole.

As chemical feedstock we're a long way from replacing it.
As an energy source it benefits massively from being well established - can you imagine trying to get stations that sell vast quantities of a toxic, volatile, combustible liquid set up every few miles or so now - very energy dense and easy to handle. It requires complex machinery to extract the stored energy but we are used to that - again, first mover advantage.

We would have switched to nuclear energy decades ago, but the Chernobyl accident ruined the public's perception of nuclear energy.
