I remember taking an SAT prep course at a public school and the kids there were dumb as dirt. They couldn't answer the most basic questions and seemed to lack the basic tools of a good education. Depends on the school. They range the gamut from progressive to extremely orthodox. The former will not even ask about religion while the latter will only allow the most religious Jews to attend. Many also require some level of Hebrew fluency.
