Gut microbiota is a lot more complex. For starters you have biofilms which prevent physical contact between alcohol and bacteria, bacteria which oxidize alcohol, you have several meters worth of an intestinal tract which absorbs alcohol or releases chemicals to neutralize alcohol, etc...
