I want to go into either physics research or teaching. I'm looking at potential colleges. The two most convenient for me have Physics or Applied Physics. Is there a difference? I know I have to go onto graduate degree levels anyway, but it won't be at either of these schools.

Physics is for smart and hard-working people.
Are you?

To answer your question, Physics.
Applied Physics is more industry focused. Also, plan your coursework with a target grad school in mind.
Best of luck!

I mean, society IS really backwards, but the only way to find out which to major in is to take both

anyways, i'd be interested to hear if you decide to do both

to quote Miley Cyrus: "WE ONLY HAVE ONE SUN, ONE MOON, ONE ME, ONE YOU"
but whatever you do, here's a little piece of advice: also take statics and mechanics of materials, you never know when they might be useful

>target grad school
And aim for something with industrial relevance in case you want out of academia. Solid state physics is a safe bet.
