If time was the 4th dimension and we managed to control it, does that mean our actions have already been played put and that our lives have already been decided?
>>8570368
Yes.
and if you go further by imaging a fifth dimension. You will understand that each of your choices are already decided/performed and each action create a separate branched universe in a multiverse, thus meaning that the concept of "Freewill" simply does not exist.
>>8570368
No, because there is no way to control time.
Consider a projectile being launched as in pic related. With a certain angle, speed, and a constant for gravity, along any air friction if you want.
in this two dimensional picture you can see the whole trajectory of the projectile, from start to finish. Once the ball was thrown, every point in it's trajectory was determined. You could even consider the horizontal axis to represent time.

That's the easy way out.
Blame determinism for everything, pretend you're not at fault since it was always meant to play out that way. Pathetic.
Past or future do not exist, only present. Time is an abstract concept we use to describe the the change of present into a different form. The relativity of time comes from our measurement of it, the speed at which something changes can be varied under different circumstances.
Actions you could have taken are non-existent beyond you theorizing about them, there's no multi-verse branching from every shit you take.

>along any air friction if you want
Then it has no basis even in stick figure reality. One of the first things they teach you in physics is that your inertial frame is an idealization and you dont know the constraint forces. Making a good prediction is not an argument for determinism.

then exclude air friction, doesn't make any difference
>>8570368
no there is at MINIMUM a 1:1 correspondence between energy and information. at best for every bit of information, you use one bit of energy.
for you to 100% predict the future in any instant, you would need a lossless snapshot of the universe.
therefore whether or not everything is predetermined, there is no way to predict it.
>>8571994
The past exists as long as we record it.

>if time was the 4th dimension
Time is the 4th dimension

Is your future already decided? New theory of time suggests that the past, present AND future co-exist in the universe.
