>want to major in Wildlife Sciences
>everyone else in by class wants to be an engineer, medical professional, or work in a hard science
The follow your passion thing isn't a meme right, and those AP gunner kids will switch majors or drop out while I major in something I enjoy?

The follow your passion thing is a meme if you aren't successful. If you get a good paying job in your field you're successful.
tl;dr Wildlife Sciences is a meme

Follow your passion within reason. I switched to Ecology from my originally planned art degree because I realized I wanted a job but also loved the field. It comes naturally to me and it's not super difficult so as long as you're willing to put the work in and do something useful with it then go for it. Try to get a GIS certificate or at least research under your belt.

are you really sure you want to major in Wildlife Sciences?
have you looked at academic papers written by people already working in the field? do you want to be the guy who does that?

If I didn't like physics so much I would 100% major in zoology. Sure you're going to starve but who cares animals are freaking cool.
