what are some books that will give me a solid foundation in mathematics? I just started uni and while I may have some knowledge, I was never taught actual rigor and formal notation which are expected here. I just need something that will give me a deeper insight into mathematics as a logical science rather than as a tool for calculations.

This proofs book because the instructor solution manual is available at libgen. The price can fluctuate a bit.

This would be used in a proofs course after the basic math classes. There are plenty of videos for each section on youtube. After this you are ready for analysis and algebra

I'd read more into proofs after you understand Algebra I & II and Trig, and before you study calculus.
Elementary algebra can be learned almost anywhere on the internet, as it's really just fundamentals. That'll start your journey off, but if you cannot correctly do arithmetic or pre-algebra, then I'd start with those.
