Who says pure math is more difficult?
>>8479369
Thats iq of mathematics students not jus pure mathematics which are obviously smarter than applied mathematicians. So its also likely that pure mathematicians have a higher mean iq than physicists.
i'm great at short time memory and i can easily a quick understanding of concepts from almost any field yet i'm terrible at long term memory (1 year +) does this make me a brainlet? I almost got a perfect 4.0 gpa at an ivy league college but i don't remember anything from my course and wouldn't be able to solve first year problems without some background reading first.

Sound like you aren't interested enough. If you actively place emphasis on the importance of an idea then you're more likely to remember it.
