I really think the fact that you hear "calc/Ochem/Pchem/(whatever challenging course here) is just SOOO hard" constantly is what trips more people up than anything else. People go into a lot of these courses thinking they'll never understand, so they don't try, they fail, and then they perpetuate that line of thinking.
Is this why normalfags don't get into math beyond highschool levels?

I don't think that's true
I think it's because those courses are the first ones you run into where you actually have to put some thought into what you're doing
so they end up weeding out all the people who lack the ability to think critically or follow more than a single step of logic
and that happens to be a whole lot of people

Nope. They don't get into math because if they wanted to ruin their financial lives they would just get a Liberal Arts degree.

probably not. i'm american and studying abroad in australia. there's a lot of smart people here, but there's also a lot of people who just don't have the gumption to put work in at school. it's the same everywhere, desu. usa, china, australia, been there , studied, seen it myself.
