too bad there is no actual advancement in mathematics, just people investing ever more time in arcane, arbitrary, and meaningless thought-inventions. Mathematics has long passed the point where mathematicians were dealing with primary or tangible notions of quantity and space, nowadays 'mathematicians' concern themselves with mostly secondary or tertiary notions; doing mathematics about mathematics or mathematics about the mathematics they do about mathematics. It is totally artificial and concerns only the peculiarities of the human mind and speaks to no deep truths either.
