Anyone else tired of Tesla faggots sucking Nikola Tesla's decomposed dick and spreading misinformation about Thomas Edison?
>thomas edison never invented the lightbulb some unimportant faggot invented it before him!
Thomas Edison invented the first lightbulb that you could actually use in your home. All the previous "lightbulbs" were simply experimental designs that burned out after a few minutes.
>omg thomas edison was a meanie he electrocuted an elephant!!!
No. He never did this. This is an urban legend.
https://en..wikipedia.org/wiki/Topsy_(elephant)
>thomas edison was an evil man who was mean to nikola tesla!!!
No. He never gave a shit about Tesla. He only hired him once to work on DC current, then Tesla came up with the AC current and sold it to another businessman named George Westington. So Edison's real rival during the War of Currents was Westington, not Tesla.
>thomas edison stole credit from most of tesla's work!!!
No he didn't. Like I said, they only worked together once. He didn't care who he was nor did he give a single shit about him.
>AC currents beat DC currents in the end
Nope your computer, phone, and electronic devices charge with DC currents
Nikola Tesla is a stupid meme that needs to die
>Westington
lel, you are a idiot OP.

oh yeah it's westinghouse. whatever
>Nope your computer, phone, and electronic devices charge with DC currents
After rectification from AC.
Edison was a businessman who took credit for the work of his employees. At best he was that era's Elon Musk.

i'll admit that I thought the elephant thing was true,
good to know OP

Edison was obtuse, bullish unscrupulous thug.
In his war-of-currents, he sponsored Harold Pitney Brown to perform public electrocutions on animals.
He didn't electrocuted the elephant himself, of course - he just sent his crew to film it.
Without Edison, the world today would be pretty much the same, if not better.

>then Tesla came up with the AC current
The funny thing here is that even -you- are letting some of the Tesla bullshit slip through.
Tesla didn't come up with AC current.
Tesla did not make the first AC generator, or the first commercial AC generator, or the first AC system that Westinghouse used.

oh snap OP just got burned
>>8445448
glad someone else noticed

The thing is that even for long distance power transportation, the one thing AC was supposed to be good at, it turns out that DC does better
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-voltage_direct_current
The only reason power lines are AC is because of existing infrastructure
For all the memes about Tesla, basically the most important thing he did was the design of the induction motor (which was pretty important), and for that he got a unit named after him which is more than Edison got.
>>8445050
Edison was a douchebag. Why is it now popular to defend him on /sci?
>>8445557
Some people like to correct misinformation instead of treating history like a comic book series.
>>8445479
How? He helped proved OP's point
>being from the hometown of the man who invented th lightbulb
>>8445050
honestly his greatest accomplishment was his research facility. it churned out so much tech.
They dismiss Edison while praising Tesla, thinking he "invented AC power". Tesla didn't invent AC power
>>8445554
A more important reason why most powerlines are AC is that it's a lot easier to work with. If you want AC at a lower voltage than the powerline, it's easy: use a transformer. If you want DC at a lower voltage (without wasting a lot of power) you need much more complicated and expensive equipment.

Who cares, they're both dead.
