FUCK YOU

Who actually says this?
>>8408066
Trolls. They tricked me into thinking I wouldn't have to study for my first exam and I ended up failing. Never again
>american

Sometimes I feel like I'm not smart enough for science, but then I remember morons ACTUALLY GET LESS THAN AN 'A' IN FUCKING CALC
>>8408065
How?? How did you find it harder? Or did you still not actually get Calculus 1?
Calculus 2 is just the added difficulty of having to parametrise curves and bodies. The actual integration is exactly the same as in 1.
I dont think its actually easy, its just easier than Calc 1.
I mean. After a point it does get much easier but thats just because youve finally learned all the shit you need to know to actually do the math and are now doing application.
How can any subject that can be mastered just by doing a trillion exercises considered hard? If you're not aceing it you just didn't exercise enough
>>8408065
Don't take advice on /sci/ seriously; everyone here is insecure. I found Calc 2 to be very difficult as well - I got like D+'s or C-s on the first two exams. Didn't give up and pulled A's on the last exams. Got overall B but I had worked so hard for it, I was happy.

Did Calc 2 out of spivak without Calc I. I'm a math major
>>8408065
I did much better in Calc 2 than I did in Calc 1.
Same professor, too.

>>8408065
you don't even have to go to school to understand the fucking shit you brainlet. It's the most intuitive kind of math anyone could have ever come up with.
Anyone who says Calc 2 is easy went to either:
Community College
Easy professor/shit school or both
I go to a top 10 uni and Calc 2 is the most failed class. A REAL calc 2 class is very difficult.

This man was my calc II professor. He assigned homework and two midterms which he graded but didn't count toward our grade. He gave us a 9 problem final that was 100% of our grade. I learned so much from that guy, I still love him.
>>8408464
what's up fellow columbia anon
Calc 1 is difficult if you have a good professor teaching you the theory
Calc 2 is simple calculation. Integration and infinite series, with some parametric and polar equations near the end.

You heard wrong. Calc 3 is like calc 2 but with 3 dimensions of fuckery.

Calc III is literally I but with vectors randomly thrown in
I threw away my A in Calc III on the final, when I didn't have time to study because of real life shit. Luckily every upper division math class was an A or a few times A- after that, but I'll still never get over it.
Got B's in my calc courses but started getting all A's when I hit linear algebra and analysis. Did similar in everything beyond that point.
Calc 1 is boring as shit
Calc 2 was fun and interesting while being easy
Calc 3 was hard to me.
Physics is kinda the same with 1 being boring, 2 being mildly interesting, and 3 is very interesting, but doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
>>8409271
Calc 1 fucked me because my professor never explained what the fuck dx meant, I got a C in that class. Luckily my phys 1 prof went into way too much detail for everything, and that's where I realized wtf dx meant and calc 1 made sense. From there, calc 2 was fucking easy, I got a B cause Im a lazy fuck. Calc 3 is kicking my ass though, fucking series and proofs are beyond me, can't wait to move past this shit.
Calc3 is easier than Calc1 and Calc2.
Calc4 is a new world of fuckery though
>>8408562
For the first fucking week. In Cal III now, onto double integrals and polar coordinate horse shit right now.
>enjoy calc 1
>enjoy calc 2 except for sequences and series
>get to calc 3
What a bunch of horseshit. I don't think I've ever seen a difficulty curve like that.
>>8409352
>enjoy calc 1
>sort of enjoy calc 2 and love sequences and series so much and professor calls my answers genius and stuff (probably relative) probably the only professor in a stem course to know my name
>calc 3, same prof, he changes from sort of working examples along with powerpoints to just blazing past powerpoints made by someone else
>he has the audacity to give me 5 bonus points on a test because of 'class participation'
Would have been less insulting had he told me I was a brainlet and pretended I didn't exist like the rest of the teachers
>>8409280
How are you even taking a math class and not know what dx means. I mean seriously did you even read the fucking textbook you faggot?
>>8408501
It depends on how well you can conceptualize 3D space. It easier for some than others.
>>8409430
Except he took differential forms, dx is notation.
>>8408065
Who the hell says this?
>>8408065
>failing calculus
it must suck to be a brainlet
My Calc 2 term opened with a whole weekend worth of the most fucked up differential Calc optimization problems from Stewart.
Pretty sure this integral shit is gonna be cake after that.
>>8409352
funny, I only liked sequences and series from calc 2
I got a C in calculus 1. I had a tough time with the algebra, and some of the optimization problems.
Got into calc 2 and LOVED it. Integration techniques and series were intuitive and made sense. I got the highest mark in my class. Made me consider majoring in math.
Currently in Calc 3 and struggling a little. I don't visualize in 3D space well.
Crushing my proof-based linear algebra class though. It's super fun and makes a lot of sense
>>8409539
optimization in calc 2 before integration?
what kind of shitty school are you attending?
>>8409346
Topkek
Hold on, Calc 2 is:
-Optimization
-Partial Fractions
-Integration by Parts
-Intro to DEs
-Series and Sequences
- Intro to multivariable equations
- Techniques for various types of integration and add ons such as L'hopital's rule.
I just finish this semester literally today, the only tough thing about it has been the fact they introduce you to many different topics which cover all the loose ends of calculus so far.
This is how it is in my New Zealand based class. Not sure how it is for the US.
>>8408067
>didn't study because a bunch of autists on the internet told him not to

>2nd exam in calc 1

>get 86%
>dissapointed in myself
>professor says nearly everyone failed and would be surprised if the average was above 40%
>look around the room in disgust
How can you fail at math? Literally nothing to remember.
The problem is that most universities have moved topics from Calc 1 over to Calc 2 gradually over the years (because fewer students need Calc 2 to graduate) and so Calc 1 is now barely anything and Calc 2 is packed. They can't really move topics from 2 to 3 without disrupting the integrity of 3 as the multi-var class.
So what does Calc 3 entail in the US? Because in my class it's going to be
Implicit functions
Lebesgue measure
Double and triple integrals
Probably some stuff on series
Differential forms (or something like that)
