As someone who has an autistic obsession with human behavior and studies every single bit of every interaction until it is reverse engineered, I have come to the conclusion that bullying is a form of behavior-correction "therapy" that existed in our ancient tribes, and evolved within kids to subconsciously shape up their fellow tribesmen.

A lot of bullying is actually fully subconscious and the kids do it out of habit with a very little thought invested in what are they actually doing. There are behavioral patterns that trigger their desire to bully another kid so it "corrects" whats faulty in it. The most outlying pattern for that is something that pacifies him, makes him unusually kind and very unlikely to defend the tribe should an attack occur - autism.
The rest are similar stuff, like low and unattractive social value (resulting in lower tribe reproduction rate).

If those social mechanics didn't exist in our tribes and kids didn't bully others, you end up with a lot of uncorrected pussified "men" who basically drag down the entire tribe. See: modern society that enforces every single possible hugbox against bullying, resulting in what it currently is.

So yeah, I wouldn't doubt that there's something flawed in him, knowing that kids his age literally kicked his head until unconsciousness.
