>getting my master's degree in nuclear engineering
>thought it was a good idea because someone on here told me there is about to be a big revival of nuclear energy
>thought I would be contributing to a noble cause of bringing clean energy to the world
>just realized everyone is terrified of nuclear energy and its too expensive and over-regulated so all the old plants are being shut down and no new ones are being built
any other nuclear bros fall for this meme?

Choosing my master's this year. I did overweigh nuclear engineering but now i'll probably just stick to financial maths. Thanks OP.
>thought it was a good idea because someone on here told me there is about to be a big revival of nuclear energy
Lmao which one of you cunts did this.

Yeah this is true sadly. The only major country which is building new reactors is China, oh and Russia. Probably because they don't have to cater to mindless hippies like the West does.

The decommissioning costs are eye watering. EDF has put away 23 billion to cover 57 reactors. For a comparison, the UK will cost somewhere between £95bn and £218bn, spread over the next 120 years. Not counting the huge numbers already spent.
So, something doesn't add up.

As a nuclear engineer you could still pull off one of the funniest pranks in history.
If you can teach a remote Saharan tribe metalworking, you could possibly manufacture a rudimentary nuclear generator from scratch.
>dese are our camels
>dese are our children
>dey are always very hungry
>dese is our well
>dese is the nuclear reactor we use to pump water from the well
>dese our our hutts
It doesn't matter, they're slowly coming to the realization the load issues caused renewable energy isn't solvable and storage technology research isn't able to realize any real advancements.
Nuclear energy is here to stay.

10/10 would watch the documentary
Nuclear waste from Nuclear Power planets isn't so clean though

>wait did /sci/ exist 5 years ago?
>Realize that was 2011
Time flies

You poor sap. Maybe now you'll learn to distinguish truth from memes.
No. We told you to get a PhD in math. You would be hired as a nuclear engineer just by flashing your PhD diploma
