I love this demonstration. It you can visually the spacial distortion that gravity could cause in a 2D universe. Flatlanders living in the 2D universe wouldn't see the dimple caused by the large weight in the middle. It'd look totally flat to them as they have no concept of up/down caused by the weighty object. In order to visually see the spatial distortion in our 3D universe you need to be in the 4th dimension.
