[citation needed]
time is measured by the suns position in the sky as well as the stars at night.
fun fact: the astrolabe is precise in keeping record of time as well as serving a general purpose for celestial navigation during the time when the world KNEW the earth was flat. Armstrong supposedly use this during the moon landing mission.

It's hard to grasp that time is not a "thing" since we are always "moving" "through" it. Time is more of an... effect? not sure if I can describe it as such. It's just a thing that appears to be happening since everything is in periodic motion.
then again, the notion of time is hugely important and helpfull in all fields.
