I'm applying to grad schools in physics this year, but i have no idea how to find schools that match my interest the most. Is there somewhere I can find schools that match my interest besides arbitrarily looking up professors?

ask your professors. academia is a small world.
>>
Have you considered doing a google search for "graduate programs in ______ physics?" I guarantee you'll get results. Once you find a program, read the bios of the professors and determine if their research is interesting to you.
Also do this: >>8297618

Do you know what field you're most interested in?
High energy?
AMO?
Condensed matter?

>>8297674
I want to do computational physics, but more theoretical than just numerical methods. Something like information entropy/quantum information theory
>>
Because of pic related. Can anyone tell me where to go to learn and practice partial derivatives and multiple integrals.

>>8297674
>anyone willingly doing amo
what a sad world we live in
>>
>>8297724
UCSB does a lot of interesting computational physics but it tends to be more simulation type things like biophysics and soft matter.
>>
>>8298010
As does UC Davis, their biophysics is good. Carnegie Mellon and UCSD have good programs too.
>>
>>8297724
The way Computational Physics being done is literally Theoretical Physics with Simulation. Don't enter HPC departments. They are dying.
>>
>>8297724
So you basically want to do theoretical physics. You should just apply to schools in the top 20. It is very difficult to get a job in theoretical physics unless you did your PhD/Postdoc at a high-ranking institution, in which case it merely becomes difficult.

not hijacking your thread but how does one find out which field to go for graduate studies if one didn't do any sort of research during one's undergraduate course? is there hope left? i have some areas of interest, literal shit i find interesting, but 0 (zero) research experience.

can i enroll for a graduate program and decide once inside academia after taking a closer look into the available areas of research?

Start doing undergrad research now?

Or realistically get a master in Europe. KInda expensive though.
>>
>>8298742
I'm graduating in a couple months, so undegraduate research is out of the question.

I'm thinking about enrolling in a Master's Degree program to see what research is all about, but can I decide which area to focus after enrolling or is deciding an area part of the admission?

>but can I decide which area to focus after enrolling or is deciding an area part of the admission?

Obviously depends on the program.
