Hey, /sci/.
I'm a guy who followed almost every rule in academia and ended up with a PhD in CompSci. I've not revolutionised the field at all, obviously, but I did get some good points across, some new results that mostly sprung out of other techniques and barely some intuition on my part.
I've been a lazy git all my life, my mother used to wake me up to teach me letters and couldn't have done half the things I did without being pushed. In the end though, I did end up with a desire to actually do something about some of the open problems.
Do you have any questions for me? About CompSci or in general, anything.
>Do you have any questions for a nobody?
Nope

/sci/ hates compsci
/sci/ only cares about math and physics

just call your thread an AMA you autist

What area of research did you do? I'm interested in a PhD in CS. Coming from math background
Also what are the hottest fields right now

What CS subjects did you enjoy most?
What CS subjects did you enjoy least?

Hottest are obviously the memes of AI and """big""" data. A lot of staff of my former uni are getting companies for this, but it's just for the money.
If you want to do pure CS, there's plenty of options. There's nobody more conservative than CSes writing with plain text in an email (which I love).
Also gay here.

You mean in undergrad right? Never had any Master's things because I went straight from BSc to PhD.
>What CS subjects did you enjoy most?
Experimental methods in computing, foundations of compsci, algorithms, anything thereotical was fun.
>What CS subjects did you enjoy least?
Least? I dare say I hated game theory at first, but then loved it because of how different it was. It respected some rules of maths yet was so awkward.
I think though machine learning and states were the least of mine.

>Entering sage in the name field.
It makes me think it's funny, because he didn't actually sage. You can't enter sage as both an option and a name.
Sage can no longer go in all fields.

can you hire a neet like me to work for you, I'm bored
