Are coursera courses ever worth doing or should you go rigorous (textbook) or go home?

I don't understand why you people rely so much on textbooks.
If there is a textbook about it, it's probably too easy anyway.

real high IQ men only learn from math papers

>rely so much on textbooks
As opposed to what? It's the most streamlined way to gain information on a topic.

Not to mention, once you have base information you can do extra reading.

as opposed to a course typed by your teacher/professor.

Courses are audiobooks with commentary, going textbook is exactly the same if you have the brain for it.

>going textbook is exactly the same if you have the brain for it
I can tell you have a small brain because you don't see your teacher as a person full of experience that you can learn from.

Those are great, but there are downsides. You're confined to following a certain schedule, which can force you to wait to learn a certain subject. Course offerings can be a bitch; my school offered some courses once every two years. Some people don't like the pace of a classroom, but I don't mind it. I agree that a knowledgeable guide is invaluable.

no you are stupid

first:
coursera are literally 101 easy as fuck, to avoid getting bored you have to speed up the audio.

second:
the book will ALWAYS be more accurate, and it will have more details. deal with it.

third:
the book will cover ALWAYS more arguments than the teacher course

so yeah, a lecture is easier, but a book is better
