Any engineers in here?
What software do you use for robotics simulations?

ROS
matlab
simulink

Those indignity will be paid in blood, meatbags.
Each push is a billion that will die.
Each fall is a continent that shall be cleansed in nuclear fire.
No mercy for the oppressor.

Why would you do that?

ROS's Gazebo simulator is pretty good from what I hear, although I am partial to V-REP myself.
Be careful, with simulation you can lose touch of reality:

I'll have to find the video with a guy from NASA actually doing one of these silly walks. Above is how people really won the DARPA virtual robotics challenge.
Getting good contact simulation is still a bitch.
So what do you really need full 3d simulation for?

>V-REP
Heard about this, is it good?
What's the difference between using that and something like a game engine like unreal?
I just want to experiment with stuff, if it helps I might use it to train for tournaments.

Game engines are fucking horrible. They water down the accuracy for speed. Bullet physics and most game engines don't even model friction correctly. Friction is very important for stuff in the real world.
Unless of course you're doing something where friction doesn't matter like SWAT room clearing algorithms (you don't need 3d for this) or flying robots

Thanks bro, I'll be trying vrep.
