I used to be the same. As a kid, I got stung 199 times (counted) during a single night while staying at a hostel on a class trip.
Although I'm not sure there is a causal relationship, it got better when I started doing sports more (shortly after puberty). I'm still their prime target in a crowd, but it's usually limited to less than 10 stings per day without protection.

Most mosquitoes are attracted to the CO2 you breathe out and follow that to find you.

The simplest solution is to stop breathing. That'll show those pesky critters!
