I'm starting graduate school in pure math this fall. Is this book any good? Also, how do I start an academic book library as a cheapass poor grad student.

torrents

bookzz.org nigga

libgen.io [insert annoying black slang here]

Incidentally, they are unreachable via their domain name since yesterday (a dummy page shows instead). Apparently there's some issue with the domain name registration. Anyone has their IP address to access them directly?

If the university you go to isn't dogshit you should be able to find 99% of what you need in the library

Steal library books.
Smuggle them into other libraries when you're done with them.
>>
>>8008561
I stole books before and now I am sending back to their library

>>8008120
Not really up to date but w/e

Print the .PDF file into a book through Lulu.com for 10 dollars. You can customize it and create your own cover, this is what I've been doing, super cool but not really legal.

If you didn't learn Green's theorem why are you in grad school?
>>
>>8008811
it's a preface to the general stoke's theorem
it's basically telling math students "hey dudes, remember this shit you saw in calculus? yeah, you're going to need to apply stoke's theorem in the context of these basic examples, so review them"
>>

So bookfi returned as bookfi.net. Good to hear, especially that the bookzz library is unreachable since yesterday due to some domain name problems (the URL lands you at some dummy page).
>>
>>8008836
I can go on bookzz with no problem, maybe its just your provider
>>
>>8008844
Can you?

http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/bookzz.org.html
>Bookzz.org is PARKED
>The website is either expired or listed for sale...

All I get when going to bookzz.org is some dummy site with some Chinese text at the top (and some lists of generic links with adblock off).

If you are really able to still get to the real bookzz page via the URL, then its proper IP may still be in your DNS cache. Care to check it and post the IP address if that's the case?

Buy from amazon, claim it never arrived, refund 99% of the time.

46.19.141.42 redirects me to http://ww2.bookza.org which is just another empty dummy site.

212.117.161.3 gives "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

I know jack shit about computers but here's proof
>>
>>8008937
Weird.

My DNS gives me 184.105.178.85 for bookzz.org (which leads to a dummy site).
>>
>>8008953
>>8008921
your ISP has blocked it maybe or your DNS
>>
>>8008937
Can you open cmd.exe, type "nslookup bookzz.org" (without the quotes), and post the results? Thanks.

For me, two different DNS servers give the bullshit IP 184.105.178.85, and also isitdownrightnow.com points out problems with the URL (as >>8008854 said).
>>
>>8008901
It might work if you do it every now and then, but I guess they'd grow pretty suspicious if you'd try to build a library that way (i.e. do it routinely).
>>
>>8008937
Works for me too.
>>
>>8008937
>>8009016
>>8008970

OK, it works now. I cleared the DNS caches and rebooted the router, now it gets 46.19.141.42 for bookzz.org and the URL works again too. Weird. Also, isitdownrightnow.com still reports the supposed name registration problem.
>>
>>8008120
Thanks for pointing out this book OP. Since this post I started reading an entire chapter on what I'm currently studying.
>>
>>8009025
I suppose they forgot to renew the domain name registration and their hosting provider temporarily redirected their URL to a dummy page. Then the issue got resolved apparently, but DNS problems may linger on until caches on intermediate and end devices are purged and receive updated information.

Used book stores are a good resource. I've built up a small library just raiding book stores in the Dallas area.

Alternatively, buy any Dover publishing book in the field. Dover prints textbooks that the copyright has run out on, most of them work pretty well. Got a cool quantum book published by them a while back.

And then pdfs
>>
Dover is your best friend. Amazon used you can find really good conditioned books for well below the retail price ( snagged Advanced Linear Algebra softcover for $18, condition might as well have been new ). Lots of good lecture notes online.
