Hey /sci/, I've got a test tomorrow in Modern Algebra and I'm going through some problems. Are there any mathematicians out there that can explain how you factor x^3+2 in Z3[x]?

just try shit out
by inspection this looks like 1 -3 3 -1
if this hint isnt enough then you're fucked
>>7964606
I'm probably fucked, but oh well I'll keep trying things. Thanks for the hint.

There's literally 3 elements you have to check as roots, what are you stuck on?
>>7964613
you mean x, x+1, and x+2?
>>7964622
Roots are things you plug into polynomials to get zero
There are only three elements in Z_3, and so it should not be hard to plug these three things into your polynomial.

Are you talking about the factor theorem?
>>7964638
if a is a root of the polynomial, that is f(a) = 0, then (x-a) divides the polynomial, yes
>>7964643
cool, I actually learned something. thanks.
>>7964646
You are so fucking doomed. I hope for your sake that your class is a total joke.
Abstract algebra is cool though, you should definitely learn some.

lol the class is a bit of a joke, I got an 89 on the last test and I was as ill prepared as I am now. I'm not worried, I'll learn everything important tonight.

Just solve for x3=-2
