So I took a helicopter flight. We ascended pretty high and then just hanged around in the same space for a a while enjoying the view. I was looking down marveling at all the tiny houses and trees... and then it hit me! They all looked perfectly still! If Earth rotates at about 1000 miles per hour then how come all this time it was perfectly still while I was looking at it from the sky?

>If Earth rotates at about 1000 miles per hour then how come all this time it was perfectly still while I was looking at it from the sky?
very simple physics
you're so dense, when you ascended into the air it caused the ground to experience severe time dilation and thus stood still for you
>>
>>7950950
The air you were in.... ready for this?
Moves... with.... the.... Earth

But the air should go around my helicopter and not move my helicopter. Air just goes around things.
>>
not sure if troll or dumb

>>7950967
No one has answered my question yet with an answer that makes sense.
>>
>>7950972
Why would anyone reply seriously to a bait/shitpost thread?
>>
>>7950973
You just don't have an answer that makes sense.
>>
>>7950975
It doesn't make sense because you're a retard.
>>
I'm picturing literally 8 years old here. How close am I OP?
>>
>>7950950
I bet the people looked like ants too, if people aren't actually ants why come they look like ants?

Air molecules in atmosphere move with the earth, but your intuition is correct in the sense that there is an observable effect which is called Coriolis effect. It isn't just so intense as you expected.

"the Coriolis force is an inertial force (also called a fictitious force) that acts on objects that are in motion relative to a rotating reference frame."

Good thing Air Friction and Drag are no longer things.
>>
>>7950964

Have you ever put your hand out of the window of the moving car? You literally can feel the air pushing your hand. Similarly, how do you expect that the helicopter stays in the air, if air doesn't resist the rotating blades?

Why are people even replying to this thread
>>
>>7950996
you mean figuratively
>>
>>7950996
Well there is some resistance but still it mostly just passes you. Like when you walk you can't even feel it unless you are outside and there's wind. Anyway. If you are suspended high up in a helicopter you should technically see the earth spin below you but you don't.

>>
>>7951014
You don't really feel the air?
>>
if you are hovering, it just means your relative speed to the earth is zero. You and the earth are still spinning.

[eqn] F_D = \frac{ C_D \rho A v^2 }{2} [/eqn]
[math] F_D [/math] = drag force
[math] C_D [/math] = drag coefficient
[math] \rho [/math] = density of air
A = surface area
v = velocity

Some resistance, like hurricane tearing the roofs out from the buildings and yet those helicopters and airplanes stay in the air.

It is because the earth is actually flat, we all have been lied to, government controls us this way.

Lol. Are you saying it's impossible to be stationary relative to earth when hovering in a copter? As in go straight up Hoover a few hours, cone straight down in the exact same place?
>>
>>7950972
>>7950975
conservation of momentum

the earth rotates. But you and your imaginary helicopter also rotate. And you keep doing so when you ascend (or descend)

If Sun's gravity is so great that it pulls the Earth towards it then how come people aren't pulled towards the sun?
>>
>>7951071
It's very possible, therefore the Earth can't be rotating 1000 miles per hour. The Earth doesn't rotate bro.

I figured this out on my own when I was five years old, anon.

Just give up, its too late for you now.
>>
>>7950964
If the air can't move the helicopter... How'd it get off the ground in the first place?
>>
>>7951144
The sun does pull on people, but the earth due to its size and close distance to the people, pulls on them harder. The Earth also pulls on itself more than the sun pulls on it, which is why the earth is a ball of rock instead of a ring around the sun

So I'm a rubber ball and OP threw me inside a car. I ascended pretty high and then just hanged around in the same space for a a while enjoying the view. I was looking down marveling at all the tiny seats and floor mats... and then it hit me! They all looked perfectly still! If this car moves at about 100 miles per hour then how come all this time it was perfectly still while I was looking at it from the air?

Yes , this effect is very noticeable when shooting long distances. Will cause the bullet to drop, rise,or go rt or left.depending where the target is .
