Hey I'm looking for a good book to learn general topology.

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Hey I'm looking for a good book to learn general topology. I am an undergraduate looking to take this course next semester. I've been recommended picture related.

Janich's Topology is a good read. Be warned it doesn't have exercises though.

literally worthless

Only brainlets need exercises.

Munkres's Topology is standard, but arguable. A few other textbooks include "Topology without Tears", which is free online, and Janich's book.

Look at the point-set recommendations by Hatcher, but Hatcher's Algebraic Topology book is not what you usually start off with in an undergraduate topology class.

>statement: Janich's Topology does not have exercises therefore it is literally worthless
>your brainlet interpretation: any book that isn't a textbook is literally worthless

thank you

That's not what he said. It's true that one is not going to successfully learn topology without doing a lot of exercises, but he could probably just get those from another book.

What do I need to know before I dive head-first in a topology book

Probably just study a good amount of real analysis desu plus a bunch of mathematical maturity.
Topology builds on and generalizes what you learn in analysis in certain ways; it lives and breathes a life of its own though and you study many questions that are unique to topology of course.
