>tfw invasive species are becoming more and more of a problem
>tfw 6th global extinction is in sight

How do we effectively kill invasive species /sci/?

pic related: the asian ladybug. Introduced in American and Europe in the '50s and is now the main ladybug species there. Native ladybug populations have fallen dramatically because of this

Take your racism to >>>/pol/. Foreign species are enriching our wildlife.
>>
>>7894252
I know you're trolling on the /pol/ part, but invasive species are a threat to the global biodiversity. Science can learn a lot from nature, but at this rate there won't be any special or interesting species left in the future
>>
If /sci/ knew the answer invasive species wouldn't be a problem
>>
>>7894278
are there any tactics to eradicate them?
>>
>>7894255
"Biodiversity" and "ethnopluralism" are right-wing buzzwords for racism. >>>/pol/
>>
>>7894249

how to they count the bugs man honestly?
>>
>>7894255
>a threat to the global biodiversity
so?
Who are we to decide which species is better?

Life is still on earth after 5 global extinctions and billions of years, why does it matter what radybugs do in their flee time?
>>
>>7894320
because humans deliberately introduced them in the US and Europe, so we are responsible for the extinction of the native species. I feel we should do something about it, because we fucked up

>>7894249
this is the social progress that liberals want.

A lot of these insects on mate once or twice during mating season, if you release a large amount of neutered males into the ecosystem they will mate with the females without producing any young.
So it decreases the population incrementally year after year.

if monkeys introduce ladybugs somewhere, should we prevent them from doing so?
>>
>>7894735
fuck monkeys

Who cares about animal biodiversity?

Plant and fungus biodiversity is important because new medical organic compounds are often discovered therefrom. This is a problem with the loss of the rainforest.

But animal biodiversity is useless. Let them go extinct. Trying to preserve them is a waste of concern and resources.
>>
>>7894763
many plants go extinct because animals go extinct. for example if bees go extinct, plants that depend on bees (pollinating) go too.
>>
>>7894735
Monkeys aren't us, stop missing the point so hard
>>
>>7895297
Nothing belongs anywhere. Life and its continuation are a series of accidents. No one cultivated the earth so that X different species of animals exist in this location at one time. God doesn't exist, stop trying to please him.
>>
>>7894763
but it's cool to have many different species
>>
>>7896992
no it's not.
Inferior species fail because they're inferior.

B-BUT MUH STATIC IDEALIZED VERSION OF UNTAINTED NATURE!!!
This guy has a point though >>7894769

I like biodiversity. Dont wanna live in your grey homogenous reality.

what I want doesn't matter.

Don't want to sound like a dick, but why should I care? What's the difference?
>>
>>7897981
Native ladybugs don't smell so bad, aren't aggressive and don't infest houses in the winter

>Inferior species fail because they're inferior.

Not always, random chance can outright fuck a species that otherwise are fit within their respected environment.

A good example would be a super volcano, since super volcanos are not common it's hard to fault species not being able to survive such a drastic situation.

Often times species that do survive such situations survive it for completely unrelated reasons like living on the opposite side of the planet.

Does a species just simply living on the other side of a planet away from the immediate effects of a super volcano make it superior?
>>
>>7894249
Why would you. Native species are the equivalent of lazy niggers on welfare. Invasive species are the superior race and if the native population doesnt want to git gud soon then they can die off and make way for the superior race

>Invasive species are the superior race and if the native population doesnt want to git gud soon then they can die off and make way for the superior race

That's not how it always works anon, the invasive species does not always competes directly with the species in danger of extinction.

The danger an invasive species produces is through second or third hand means. An example being raptors are introduce to your local area, they begins to feed on birds and fish aggressively. Also in your local area are parasitic broodsacs that depend on those birds to eat snails that they infect to complete their reproductive cycle. Because of the raptors aggressive hunting behavior of the birds not as many snails are being eaten.

Normally this would be great for broodsac, except for one thing, since they need the birds to complete the reproductive process (they need the birds to eat said snails so their eggs can be placed in the bird feces to later be consumed by snails) the introduction of the raptors blindsides this process and can effectively make them extinct.

And the broodsac are none the wiser to it since they never release their secondary host (the birds) are being hunted down.
>>
>>7898069
Nothing matters in the end when parasites guide biological destiny, humans are really just a vast feedstock of meat sacks for assorted families of parasites. Many humans themselves have evolved into parasites, lawyers, accountants. clergy...
>>
Humans now also get slowly replaced by an invasive species.
