For the majority of fields, no. You could probably do it for Theoretical Physics though.

Best to learn mathematics and the historical premises of certain fields of study. A lot of the the stuff nowadays employs high-tech lab equipment to collect data on things you can read about on the internet. There's more fun to be had with calling people stupid online.
