are there really people who can stay highly focused and study 8 hours straight without getting distracted?

Only if a looming deadline and/or drugs are involved.
In the right mindset, yes. If you have to study for eight hours straight though then chances are you are doomed.

this
The best way to study is to study often rather than one or two long sessions.

Having ADHD makes this near impossible for me personally. If you are studying that long though, you are most likely cramming and just wasting your time.
are you people in high school? wtf
If you get used to it from childhood then no problem. Lawyers and those who rely a lot on memory/reading usually study for longer periods of time.
IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU ARE STUDYING then you may be able to go on for 14 hours+ and become a wizard. Most of the highly achieving individuals like what they are doing, then spend A LOT of time doing it, then are usually intelligent.

I'm pretty sure the type of people who can stay focused for 8 hours are probably doing something productive now instead of browsing 4chan [math]f[/math]am

Yes, as a study preference I tend to prefer long stretches to multiple short ones. This is absolutely a personal preference though, and I doubt it substantially benefits me compared to more normal habits.

With lots of passion and drugs sure. It's hard to stay focused after 2 hours for most people I've talked to. I find taking a break every 1.5-2 hours for 15 mins helps a lot

As long as I've jerked off, yeah. Not hard then.

2 cups of strobg coffee and i can do 10 hours, i just need to be in university, otherwise theres not enough motivation.

The adult attention span is around 20 minutes.
