what progress has barnett made lately? why isn't he working on string theory?
>>
he's making some big strides in puberty

>child prodigy
Bigest meme ever
>>
Actually he is working on String Theory right now.

>>
>>7743926
Typically the label "Quantum Gravity" implies LQG or an approach other than String Theory.

That's not necessarily true, but Perimeter is one of the strongest advocates for LQG so it's likely that most people in their Quantum Gravity group have at least some involvement in LQG research.
>>
>>7744022
>That's not necessarily true
I know it is not always true but String Theory research is big enough that it is not grouped into other QG research.

Will writing equations on glass make me smarter?

i open this picture and the second thing i see are fucking hopf algebras

dear god please i am trying to shitpost not write my project, why you do this

Okay, maybe he should just use white, or yellow then!

Retard

Merry Christmas tho

Yes, see A Beautiful Mind
>>
>>7743982
References get me every time.
>>
>>7743840
Because he's working on LQG, so he's actually more of failure than anyone could have predicted.
>>
>>7743973
its a meme you dip
>>
Is string theory just a meme?
>>
>>7744179
No.
>>

Yes.
>>

Were not sure until we observe.
>>
>>7744179
No one on /sci/ has actually studied string theory.
>>
>>7744215
I have, but I still can meme with the best of them
>>
>>7744233
What is the T-duality group of toroidally compactified heterotic string theory?

What is a half-BPS D-brane?

Why is E8xE8 one of two candidates for the Type II theories? For the Heterotic?
>>
>>7744233
>>7744251
Sad.
>>
>>7743840
He's probably working on LQG, poor kid.
>>
>>7744251
nice buzzwords mate
>>
>>7744367
Those aren't buzzwords. The answer to each question requires you to be familiar with string theory at a mathematical level. Which someone would be if they actually studied it.
>>
>>7744375
I haven't studied it though. So they're buzzwords.
>>
>>7743973
he has a bed time you know
>>
Do any "child prodigies" actually make anything of themselves?

>>
>>7744604
Follow up question. What happens to those who are lauded and held up but don't? Is it like the high school football player constantly pining for the "good ol' days?"
>>
>>7744179
not in this universe
>>
>>7744179
Put it this way, instead of facing up the the reality that their entire research program is fucking bullshit and a massive failure, the string memers instead want to change the very nature of what it means to be science.

https://www.quantamagazine.org/20151216-physicists-and-philosophers-debate-the-boundaries-of-science/
>>
>>7744615
So should all HET research be shelved until a 100 TeV collider can be constructed?
>>
>>7744615
>fucking bullshit and a massive failure
Gauge/Gravity duality is an extremely beautiful and promising subject that if ever fully understood has the potential to cause significant advancements in numerous different fields in physics. i.e. QCD, QG, Condensed Matter, Cosmology, and even Fluid Dynamics. While there is no direct verification there is good reason to believe with more research it will be able to make easily testable predictions within the realm of our current technology. I would hardly consider that a massive failure.
>>
>>7744634
Most people who consider string theory a massive failure either haven't studied it, are LQG shills, or both.
>>
>>7744662
Most people who aren't Christians just haven't studied it anon...
>>
>>7744675
Not even close to an accurate analogy.
>>
>>7744675
Studying Christianity without apologetical interests in mind (as in, not already being convinced of its truth) is actually a good way to make you not believe it.

He's an autist. End of discussion.

Having a Jacob Barnett is like having an overclocked PC that only mines bitcoins but doesn't know how to use them. He can solve shit, but can't interact with the real world, and will have no effect. Someone else will come up with other things, and the only reason this kid is getting seats and shit is because of him being the "lol le youngest genius" and shit like that.
>>
>>7743840
I'm pretty good at judging intelligence based on facial features.

This kid may learn a lot, but i doubt he will ever contribute anything to human knowledge.

If I'm wrong and he already has, I apologize, he just doesnt look like the critical or creative type
