I'm doing a physics degree, however I've come across quite a bit of chemistry of which I don't have a foundation.
p.s i am a fembot tranny ;) im not but please help me out!
what are the functional groups in PMMA (polymethacrylate) and bonds? I'm trying to see how I can identify it via fourier transmission IR
Ester
The carboxylic from the ether should show in nice peak around 1700 1600 wavenumber unit
Imite carbonyl my bad auto correct got me fuck up

ester at 1745

PMMA will show carbonyl stretches at around 1700 cm^-1, while PS won't. Can you tell us any more about what you're doing? If it's anything involving quantitative analysis, or more in-depth than "is this pure polymer PMMA, PS, PE...", I'd start thinking about using NMR.

polymethylmethacrylate you fuck
where did you expect the second M to come from?
>fourier transmission

OP you can probably find reference spectra online, the <1400 region is hard to interpret but is known as the "fingerprint region" for a reason.

lol this
IR is your best bet but if you have a solvent like acetone it might interfere. There's still tons of other stuff to think about, such as rheology. depends what you're doing it for.
Sorry that's probably too much information but I'm drunk and did research at a paint company til I could find a better job

for PS, you should have a stretch around 1600-1500cm^-1 for that aromatic phenyl. Also why the fuck should we care that you are a fembot or a tranny? How is that important?
