Don't play games. Games are bad for your brain and more importantly are a waste of time.

Your brain is an adaptive organ that tries to learn and understand whatever it is exposed to. If you just expose it to games, it will waste energy learning games, and even after you're done playing your brain will think about the game. So it's not bad in that it makes your brain shrink into a walnut or go insane, it just wastes brain power.

I suppose book worms wasted brain power being good at reading books to right?
Or people with primitive hobbies such as mountain climbing?
>>

Well, cardiovascular exercise, like climbing mountains, actually improves neurogenesis and has been linked to higher grades. So it's already superior to video games.

I'm not aware of any studies comparing cognitive function in book readers versus game players so I won't comment on that.

Probably depends on the game you play. I'm not a native English speaker, but as a kid i always played games in English and it helped me learn the language. But let's say you're already a native English speaker and you just play Call of Duty or some shit tier zombie games all day, that's probably a waste of brain power.

What about games who actually make you think?Exercise is important but i doubt someone who only did sports in his life is smarter than someone who plays games which requires tactics and cooperation.
>>
>>7688858
Are you referring to sources that study popular generic games like Call of Duty? That is intuitively mindless.

Though, does chess, puzzles games, or even games that simulate decision making fall into the category of wasted brain power?

Well yeah, but all things being equal, someone who exercises for an hour day and doesn't game will probably get better grades than someone who games for an hour a day and doesn't exercise.

If all things being equal and neither of them studies the one who plays games which makes you think will be able to think more abstractly than one who only does the same exercises every day
