Does anyone know what this is?

This might not be the right place but I am trying to identify what this actually is. It's not mine nor do I know who it belongs to, it was a random post on imgur.

a bag of sand, a plate and a lithium battery

I know that, but why would those be combined in a fridge?

Sand or fertilizer, potentially a grass-seed (since the bag is green, advertising purposes -- bad screen at the moment so can't get a closer look) and fertilizer mixture. The next is a 1.3 Ah, Lithium battery on top of what appears to be a cheap ceramic plate.

Okay guys, yes I know it's a bag of something , a battery and a cheap plate but why are they together and in fridge.

Lithium batteries, especially cheap ones, have a tendency to rupture and burn on contact with the atmosphere. If I had to guess, someone had a reasonable suspicion that this cheapo battery would burst. So they put the battery in sand and stuck it all in the fridge to try and slow the reaction event inside the battery.

Okay, thank you. I just didn't know if this was something to be concerned about.

I imagine it was a bunch of junk in a garage or similar and the other items were put in the fridge to take up less space

I imagined it was just junk also, but someone posted those to images to imgur with the title "isolation" and nothing else. It seemed a bit odd and specific to me.

It's a rudimentary extinguishing system. The sand is sitting on a metal grate in the bags. If the battery bursts, the flames (which will move upward) will melt a hole in the bags containing the sand, and it will extinguish itself.
