I think you may have posted that message in the wrong place. You see, what you just described is a 'normie'. Normies are the ones with no sense of humour, and, while they do have so-called 'memes', can they really be called memes?
True, authentic memes have roots and potential that is more than what these normies are calling memes.
Take cash me ousside and wha are those, for example. They can only be used in one way, have normie roots identifiable by the real-world situations in which the roots are set, and they are tasteless. Now take our good friend expand dong (see left for example interpretation). It originated in the confined environment of gaming threads on non-normie social medias, has room for growth, has multiple ways of going about it (either use the words expand dong, or use the magazine chop-up in other ways), and, as such, it doesn't get old. That's the real difference. Authentic memes are ageless.
I believe that we cannot call these normie trends "memes", as they go against all meme conventions and benefit all normie conventions, which goes against meme code. It is as such that I call upon the good people of [s4s] to start a campaign to bring the word 'meme' back where it belongs: away from the light of the normies, on 4chan.
