I was thinking about it on my way to school. Seems like something the government should provide...
>>5345886
Have you ate trees before?
>>5345910
nope
>>5345863
eating trees would worsen our deforestation problems!
trees are also very tough to eat and not bery yummy!
>>5345930
Deforestation was created by the liberal media. Just kidding.
Seriously though, where can I eat some trees?
>>5345863
We do not posess the digestive enzymes needed to break down cellulose which is the main component of wood.
This is the reason why the outer membranes of corn kernels remain undigested in our faeces

You can! Pull apart the bark of a tree and you'll see a thin layer of tissue called the cambium which is edible. Some species are toxic so try to stick to pines and maples. Be careful!, completely debarking a tree around it's circumference will put it at great risk of dying so only eat a small segment of a tree (or of several trees if you're really hungry!) unless you were planning on killing the tree for use in burning or shelter.
If you're thirsty you can also drink trees! Find an oak or pine and hammer a small piece of wood at an upward angle into the tree through the bark. It will start "bleeding" it's water and minerals from it's xylem and down the piece of wood (bucket recommended for collecting the water). Different trees produce different amounts of sap-to-water ratios (the most famous of which being the Sugar Maple, famous for being the number one producer of Maple Syrup!) but you can probably be sure a pine will give you lots of water. When you're done and don't plan on drinking from that tree anymore be sure to put a piece of wood into the hole you made: you don't want it to "bleed" all it's water and minerals out!

This is exactly the information I was looking for. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I knew I was asking on the right board.

I washed a bunch of logs (either fir of pine wood, I'm not sure) and cut them into thin pieces, then boiled them in a pot until the water turned matt pinkish red, then I put in a teaspoon of honey, mixed it and drank it after it cooled down a bit.
It tasted quite good.
Then my physical strenght became the same as that of a tree so I went outside and punched a tree in half.
Ok, I made the last one up
