Why not VM?
if you have semi-recent hardware (2010+) and at least an i5 (preferably a k model), you should be able to do GPU passthrough.
If not, try find a new CPU and/or motherboard that supports it.

Install Windows 7-10, use Linux IP blocking and block every single Microsoft domain, or even whitelist servers for games / game platforms
Whitelists are generally easier to manage if you set up a nice script for quick editing.
So say you were playing CS, in the server-list, you'd just copy the IP and add it to your whitelist, boom, done. If you can't see an IP, get an IP lookup script / program so you can slap the domain in there and get IP quick.

I hope Timesplitters Rewind will come out on PC soon. Being able to play TS on PC is the dream.
Pretty much every other shooter is trash these days, besides a few niche shooters here and there.
Crytek need to open source the licence. They have zero intention of doing anything with it and they own it entirely with zero restrictions. So it will be trivial to open source it.

Displays are cheap as hell these days. I was a poor student and had 2 monitors and bought a PS3 with a travel expenses grant like a right mad-man.

Also, the overhead isn't that much.
VT-d brings the overhead down to like, 5-10% native.
So as long as you aren't running Windows 10 with every service enabled, you'd be fine.
Ripping your Windows install apart and optimizing it exclusively to boot-for-games would reduce that overheads impact considerably more so.

Killing Floor is just fine, don't bother with 2. This is coming from someone who bought it since I played the first all the time with my friend and has around 100 hours in it. If you are going to get it, wait a little while longer until tripwire balances it out. Classes without speed boosts are just about useless.

Recently I've gotten into Disgaea with the 1st one and I gotta say I'm glad I did, mainly what I've been playing the past few weeks. That's some good sh*t right there. (chorus: ʳᶦᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ)
Aside from that I've played and beaten every ES but Daggerfall (haven't beaten it) and TESO because fr*ck that mess. Older RTS games like AoE2 and AoM. GTA, Minecraft back when the [s4s] server was still popular, Terraria, Fallout, Killing Floor, MGS series aside from 5 and Portable Ops (2 is my favorite), Saints Row, Civilization, SM Pirates!, and sanic just to name a few

Admittedly I'd probably only get it to play on modded servers anyway.
Most of the time I had in KF was on Skynet Elite server with their own classes system.
I miss that server. Having about 120~ people average with scaled waves and new zeds was fun. Friendly fire too.
I remember my friend testing to see if FF was on by shooting some random dude with a crossbow. Ended that poor guy so hard. He kept trying to revenge-kill him for like 3 matches. MATCHES.

I want to play around with the SDK to make a level.
I tried to make it in UE2 for KF, but holy FUCK UE2 is atrocious. NOPE.
How they could use that horrific SDK is beyond me. Worse than Source. Why Epic?!
If you need to actively read up and learn a UI, it is not well-designed. UE4 looks far superior from what I have seen, and more importantly, intuitive unlike UE2! And that's just from a video glance at it.
Crytek apparently never learned that lesson with their new SDK since the Timesplitters Rewind devs are having a hard time learning the new awful UI they changed for seemingly no real gain.
They were previously using UE4, but then Crytek stepped in and said they were to use their own engine to basically advertise how "awsum our new engins is for indies!"
Release their new engine with zero documentation. Hurray for logic!

You don't know half the story. The new boss they added, Hans, was apparently pretty weak in comparison with the Patriarch before I started playing. Tripwire's solution? Make it so when he's at red health he goes berserk and anyone short of a 25% speed boost can't outrun him. Your only option if you're one of these classes is out maneuvering and depending on the situation that may be impossible. Oh, and his melee attacks lock on to you too. Also you better hope to god you have an RPG (and another on reserve on the ground) regardless of your class since shooting him with anything short of that is like hitting him with a BB gun on any server with 4-6 people in it.

Fleshpounds are different, rather than having to keep sight with a player for a certain amount of time before they'll rage, they start their "rage timer" as soon as they see a player and it never stops counting down. Tripwires explanation to this was they didn't want the same kiting tactics to work for fps like they did in KF1, Scrakes remain more or less the same, they just rage at a higher health than normal so I don't follow TW's logic with that. However, fps and scrakes aren't nearly as big of a threat as they were in KF1, on suicidal and above, you're not going to believe this, but stalkers and crawlers are your worst enemy. Rounding a corner and running into a swarm of either one of these is either a guaranteed or near guaranteed death sentence. On sui and above you'll start seeing lots of albino crawlers which explode when you kill them in any way but a headshot. My friend also swears up and down husks target scrakes on sui and above to make them rage, I've never seen it though. However with suiciding husks (they have a chance to explode themselves when near death)/exploding crawlers as well as the husks new flamethrower move it seems almost as if TW was trying to discourage melee play. Sorry about the rant, mini review I guess.

One last thing, KF2 isn't a bad game despite all that. There's a few things they added that I like. Medic darts lock on/home now, your syringe heals more on single player, if you're playing with a support you can get ammo from him once per round and typically it's more than you'd find in an ammo box. The support doesn't even have to do anything, just being near him and pressing use will give you ammo. Same thing with demo and grenades. I know there's more, it's just the bad/stupid sticks out in my head more than the good.
