We trivialize things when we talk in cliches like "we are all floating in an endless void". The real truth is hidden in what "we" means. We are nothing, and our state, whether it be floating, or sinking, or standing, is irrelevant. The only salient point is that we are dying. The only interesting thing here is the fact that, for some reason, we are conscious. We let so much get in the way of that, we fall victim to our own emotions and believe that what we care about actually matters in any sense.
There is nothing that matters except consciousness, and when we forget this we waste it.
