look I like to do this too, just rant about bullshit "irony levels" and talk about how irony isn't good enough any more, but look a new meme is gonna come soon that you'll see is pretty decent, just you wait. The problem isn't that irony is getting old it's that we just keep re hashing the exact same shit, the "we are #1" meme was trash because it felt like every shitty video remix again but with a slight twist, dat boy was shitty because it just felt like everything else I get from s4s except from more mainstream meme sources, sponge gar just felt like yet another of this "kooky characters" that evoked no new emotion, it was just the same thing in a different style.

The memes that are good aren't all about irony or all about where they're made, it's just originality. Foxe posting I think was one of the greats from this board in the past year because of how it began things like double post posting, "degeneracy posting" ie. mixing foxe with mlp, that anti "barney fag" image, it got a lot of stuff together and didn't feel like some bland sludge that I needed to remix into another meme just to make funny, it made me feel ecstatic just wondering how fucking degenerate the thread would be opening it up, more so than any other meme on 4chan.

Vapor wave took off so well because of the emotions it evoked too. This was one of the first memes to simply transcend comedy, to begin our entrance into this strange era of a "higher" form of memery, memes that actually evoke real emotion. By mixing music, colours, language, and imagery, this new style was born with a huge realm of possibility, envoking this feeling of comedic artistic glory within the viewer. By bringing memes and aesthetics together as one, a completely new realm of comedy was born, and we began to witness how layers of irony could be stacked so elegantly they could form art.

These days you take a meme, just a single image, and the mainstream rapes it with these retarded fucking defaults, all they do is take an image and plaster it over the same template like that one where the mom leaves and the kid goes off to google something and he just googles the fucking meme every time, oh wait guys this time I made it funny because he googles "I want to die!" but it's only because "I want to die" is a meme and he's just googling memes again. This is the exact same as the advice animals, or the rage comics, every meme is just becoming part of the exact same default look, with those of course you had all memes just being put over a colourful background with impact font, and cartoonizing faces and placing them in a comic strip.

Any meme that's just another face in this template we spam today is another meme in the ground. But there's still good stuff out there. This is not a quest to see what's the most ironic, but what's the most original: It's an attempt to stray from the mainstream templates, and to try to make something original, something that makes people feel, something to make you laugh but maybe also a little bit more.
