So, what are Carnivorous Plants?

Well...

Carnivorous Plants are plants that capture some sort of prey through a mechanism in the plant.

Carnivorous plants usually digest their prey themselves.

And Carnivorous plants make good use of the nutrients obtained from the prey so they can grow up and be big strong plants!

However, some carnivorous plants are unable to digest their prey themselves, and get assistance from bacteria or other things to break down the nutrients in the prey! Scientists still debate whether or not these plants can really be counted as carnivorous.

This is the Venus flytrap, or Dionaea muscipula.

It's the most familiar or commonly known carnivorous plant! I'm sure you've heard of it before and maybe seen it on TV!

It mostly catches flies, but it will eat ANYTHING!

and that brings me to my next slide...

Carnivorous plants eat lots of things!

They will eat....
Insects! Spiders! (ew!) Crustaceans!
Lizards!
Mice!
Rats!
And much, much more! If they can catch it, they'll probably eat it too!

Carnivorous plants... so violent... so mean...

But they need love too!

Like any angiosperm (that's science speak for a plant that produces fruit/flowers), they need to be pollinated

they produce flowers, but never use those flowers as traps!

the traps they produce will often LOOK like flowers, but they're actually modified leaves! Wow!

pictured is a dorsera whittakeri with a beautiul white flower!

Carnivorous plants will try to attract prey in the same way that most other plants try to attract pollinators! they'll make use of bright colors, attractive shaped, nectar, and other things!

Here, we can see a Sarracenia leucophylla. it has traps that moths often mistake for flowers! Ouch!

Whoo, plant power!

It's still beign debated, but a lot of scientists agree that Utricularia inflata (commonly known as bladderwort) has developed the most complex plant leaf on the planet! that's quite a feat!

Utricularia inflata is covered in many tiny water suction traps, which are actually modified leaves! this plant is a little odd, it doesn't actually have any roots! Only stems, haha!

Now I'd like to show you a video that will explain to you how these traps work! It's quite an amazing feat!

Turn the captions on, the narrator is very hard to understand!

What happens if i put my dick in that plant
>>
>>4962857
Haha, good question!

If you look closely at the inner red area of the plant, you'll see three hairs!
If you touch one of those, the plant will close!

It would probably close on your dick, but not with enough force to keep you trapped!

If you left it there, though, you might get lucky! It might secrete its digestion enyzmes onto your dick, and then who knows what would happen!
