The server has been upgraded to 3GB of RAM (512 for the operating system, 2,560 for the server). An additional 10 player slots have also been added, bringing the total to 30!
Hyperconomy, NoCheatPlus and GriefPrevention have been updated.
Players will now enter AFK mode after 5 minutes of inactivity. You can also enter AFK mode with /afk. In AFK mode you cannot pick up items and mobs will not attack you. After 15 minutes of inactivity you will be kicked, this is to preserve server performance. To leave AFK mode, type /afk again and you will be unfrozen.
The ability to use the /gc command has been removed because it can cause lag from when it fetches information.
Teleporting now requires a 5 second cooldown in between teleports as this was causing lag too. It is still instant, however.
Rules in /rules have been updated to accurately reflect server rules.
Increased spawn-limits for water animals from 3 to 10.

rtg, please read everything I'm saying here. DO NOT SKIM through my sugestions.

Try to level with your players here.
You hold a moderately sized server at this point.
You should include a mesa biome one way or the other.
It doesn't have to be a big area, and while it might be harvested quickly, it would provide a unique experience. Just imagine, an isolated biome where it's nearly harvested dry, and after a while you allow claims and homes to be set in that biome. It would be a cluster fuck of land where all the desired and luxurious goods have been collected, and players linger in the hidden abandoned industrial city that once supply red sand.
New players will hear stories about an influx of colored sand in the economy, but no naturally placed sand still exist.
All colored sand needs to be raided from abandoned chest and plots of land, where it was probably used as a decorative lawn with cactus.
An entirely new style of building will be based off colored sand and it's slowly decreasing avalibility.
It would be an intense moment in the server history.
You don't need to restore the Mesa, and you'll only have to do this once, because it's the only missing biome of its kind.
You want this kind of server. You always go off about how you want a server battling scarcity, but nothing will ever go scarce realitstically in your server. If you invest in a Mesa, there will be immediate scarcity for colored sand.
Think, the main world will never experience scarcity, because it's 144km^2 in area.
If you want a scarcity simulation, Mesa is the way to go. Just remember to release it when plenty of players are on to give most current players a fighting chance.

mesa biomes are rarer than other biome, yes. I would have to extend the borders or use a plugin to create another world to teleport to, which wouldn't be worth the extra resources it uses.

there's plugins that can do that in like one minute(the deleting and the filling) similar to how land claims work, and then you wouldnt have to make the map bigger

Make it a crime. Encourage players to do sting operations on illegal redsand duplication operations.
Have a squad of young memers bust large scale operations. Shit would be intense.

I'm running a copy of the server locally for 24 hours to diagnose issues with performance. If you would like to mess around on a copy of the world go to 74.139.154.171:25565.

It would also help me diagnose issues by having players on there. All claims are non-existant and everyone has creative mode come on down.
