I was lactose intolerant for years and managed it by myself somehow because I didn't go to a hospital.
Then I finally went to a hospital on july of last year.
Was diagnosed with severe lactose intolerance. I cut off 100% dairy of my diet ever since, except eating some from time to time, but get diarrhea and ab pain in return.
Life without dairy is depressing, many foods that are literally some of the most tasty foods in the world contain milk. (i.e milk, chocolate, chocolate milk, cheese (pizza, burger with cheese), yogurt, cookies, ice cream, and these are just the first that came to my mind)
I really am into fitness so I couldn't stand anymore the idea of no dairy.
Thanks to the internet I discovered that leaving all dairy forever might not be good for your body, and I'm not talking only about calcium, plus think if your body no longer has to digest lactose theoretically it might stop producing lactase definitely. So what I read on the internet suggested that you eat tiny amounts of lactose since no matter how intolerant you are you are still able to digest at least a few grams.
Yogurt in fact has bacteria that help digesting lactose or something like that. Being greek yogurt the best and it has the least amount.
So I started eating dairy again, only yogurt and low lactose milk so far, and haven't had any trouble.
