ever since legion came out subscriptions have been rising quite steadily, so we might have a renaissance of the game in the next expansion, that being subs rising to WotLK levels

What is FFXIV, what is Black Desert Online? There are lots of other popular MMOs out there now, with large playerbases that seem to be sustaining. This isn't 2008 anymore, there's actual competition to WoW, and WoW is so far past its prime that they don't even release subscription numbers anymore, which also makes it impossible to tell how active it really is. Most servers in it are dead, everyone is just idling in cities waiting on queues, community is long dead because of cross realm zones which makes the game seem more active than it really is when it's actually on life support compared to say, WotLK days.

I miss vanilla the most with TBC a close second. WotLK was decent, but the rest was and is unacceptable

I started right before the launch of Wrath and played hardcore until the end of Wrath, loving every second of it - however I did get a bit bored at the end when there was nothing to do but ICC for like 9 months.

Cataclysm was fun for the first few weeks but I eventually missed the old world that I had become so familiar with and I disliked the new races. The new classes and reworks felt gimmicky and the Cata zones with the exception of the Egyptian sands one and the 80-82 one near Hyjal didn't really fit in the game I found. I did have a cool guild at that time though, however I quit just after 4.2 Firelands got released.

I think it was honestly the greatest time of my entire life, especially right as I was getting started right up until ToC patch where I probably peaked in terms of my enjoyment of the game, it went down from there although spiked during the first few months of Cata.

I'd give anything to go back and have tried vanilla servers temporarily, however it's just not the same. I genuinely believe nothing in my life will ever come close to my time exploring WoW.

The LFG, garbage AoE dungeons, and "hard modes". I am fine with wiping for weeks on the Reliquary and Gurtogg but not facestomping a raid on the week it comes out just to wipe on a hard mode attempt and having the whole guild shit its pants.

PvP became utter trash after MoP. I actually felt insulted when WoD dropped because it was so bad and costed a little more, so I left.

My brother convinced me to come back for legion so I tried it out (the changes looked okay too), but left unimpressed. It feels as if the games was treating me like a retard or something. I miss the little depth classes had in WotLK/Cata.
