I feel like I still understand modern memes to some extent despite not using social media at all, but can't see why they are called shitposts by the ODD downies that happen to obsess over them. The majority of new memes are shit. They seem to rely more on shock value or nigger culture than anything else. The new ones that aren't complete shit have turned into overused trash, just like rage comics almost a decade ago.

I get what you mean anon. It seems that the new trend is to self diagnose mental illnesses to be "relatable", and to take stock photos out of context by poorly labeling them in mspaint like political cartoons.

I don't see the humor in it, but then again I don't find very much funny at all. My sense of humor has grown so specific and hard to explain that you could post a picture of a pool noodle with too much jpeg compression and I'd find it hysterical. Moral of the story is: memes are fucking gay
