I occasionally compose piano music and draw things as an emotional outlet, but lately I've been very unmotivated.

I also like exploring and taking pictures of abandoned buildings, though that's difficult to do regularly without a car/driver's license. I would have both, but I keep failing the test because of social/performance anxiety.

Yep. Welcome to the shadow of modern human social dialogue.

Anyways, I like to grow things. I have tons of plants and have hopes of getting tons more. My favorites right now is my aloe vera which has a great new budding to propogate soon, this particular sage plant that is growing tall instead of the normal bush like pattern, and my hot pepper collection despite my doge having pissed on them quite a lot.
>>
>>39575471

I write piano music. It's classically inspired music. However, it isn't completely atonal or post-tonal or whatever these really serious composers are writing nowadays. It's just traditional sounding classical music. I'm an amateur composer and normally I find great pleasure in writing. Lately, I've found zero motivation to write though. I think I'm just too depressed lately/very unhappy. Often I like to write late at night into the am hours when NOONE can harass me via Facebook chat or texting or calling from telemarketers or all of this unnecessary bullshit.

It's a solitary hobby which is the way I like things to be

No shit really? That's awesome man, been using Elder Futhark myself for about...a year or two? Somewhere in there. This is my only set; cut, sanded, carved, bled and stained them from branch to what you see there. Pretty happy with their quality desu, and the blood has stained the carvings really nicely as you can see. Eucalyptus branch too so they smell AMAZING
>>39577104
That's awesome man! Yea a martial arts is really great for a load of reasons. Kung Fu always interested me as I am a huge Jackie Chan fan (own all his movies, pretty sure every last one). Was gonna do that but I found my martial arts and loved it from day one, biggest single martial arts in the world if I'm not mistaken too.
Keep at it man, Kung Fu is so A E S T H E T I C to watch. Do you plan on specialising into a form?
>>
>>39577144
>he bled them
good fucking man. Most people would puss out and say "paint red" knowing full well the old texts meant blood and using paint anyway.
I like tarot and such, but runes are really what speak to me the most. Glad to know there are some /x/ tier robots out there.
>>
>>39577171
Of course, I ain't no pussy and that'd be a slap in the Big O's face considering what he went through to get them and was nice enough to share them with us. I made another set using gold paint for someone, whether they bleed them is up to them (I ain't bleeding runes I'm giving away; I'm an idiot but I ain't a retard).
Same here man, there's something really...raw and frank about runes. They don't piss arse around. Right to the throat of the issue, if you're a cunt they'll tell you so. There's something really honest about them I really love.
>Glad to know there are some /x/ tier robots out there.

I want to be good at everything related to kung fu. My sifu knows some really rare and really famous forms, and I've started learning the big famous and rare one so I'm hype about that. I want to seek out a monkey style teacher once I'm really fucking good and learned all I can from my sifu. I can't wait till I learn staff and practice it a fuckton, I want to be really good at staff.

My sifu also told me once I reach sifu level myself (in like 9 years) that he might teach me how to use hook swords. Fucking HYPE for that.
>>
>>39577236
>Edrid Thorsson
Thanks for the info, I'll look him up and add some of his works to my list of readings.
I really enjoyed "The Viking Spirit" by Daniel McCoy; even if it is quite introductory, he presents it with an unbiased eye, focusing on what IS known, whilst also explaining what is ASSUMED. It's a good primer for anyone interested I find because it sets the groundwork for their future investigating; don't take everything at face value in the New Age stuff
>>
>>39577268
Sounds like you got a good Sifu man, that is first and foremost of importance when looking to a martial arts. My martial arts is still run by a World Master, and he overseas our dojos 4 times a year for very strict quality control.
>Monkey Style
Easily one of my favourites, I also really enjoy Mantis or Crane; whichever one is really "floaty" and designed for women of more delicate builds. Just looks so aesthetic
>Staff
Fuck yea man, that'll be badass! And Hook swords? Whew, sounds hype as fuck! Keep it up, 9yrs will fly by in the blink of an eye

I'll make it happen, just you wait!
>>
>>39577268

How much is this clown swindling you out of for these useless martial arts woo?
>>
>>39577302
Mantis style is one of the main styles that we do, actually. My sifu's sifu (my sigung) was on a council of global grandmasters and his forms are famous around the world. He had to flee China during the cultural revolution. My sifu told me he killed a fuckton of communists with double broadsword and was a general/leader in the Nationalist army, which is why he had to fuck off out of China because the commies were out for him.

I am honored to be connected to his man through my kung fu lineage.
>>
>>39577355
>That story
That is bad fucking ass! Sounds like you've got a good lineage, so hell yea man keep at it. Honour him and your Sifu by becoming the best martial artist you can be, and passing on their works and message to the next generation. That's my goal at least.
>>
>>39577352
>clown
>swindling
>useless
>implying
actually the class fees aren't important to my sifu. There are class fees, but since it's not like a super formal school or anything it's not a big deal. I haven't paid my dues in a few months because I'd been unemployed and broke but my sifu just said "just pay it when you can."

He also teaches us the application of all the graceful actions and forms and how we can use it most effectively in a fight- he used to be a prison guard before he retired. I've learned so much dirty fighting its great.

1. Think of a character you like from literally anything.
2. Google cosplays of that character.
3. Have there been many or are the ones that have been done really good?
4. If you answered yes to question 3, move back to question 2.
5. Google costumes of that character to get an idea for a price range.
6. If no costumes exist, try to picture how you would manually design the character on your own, including estimate of costs.

>>39579396
Front or back?
Really depends on how serious you are about practicing, and there's some inherent skill involved I guess. Most importantly you have to keep trying and not be afraid of failing because then you'll fail.
But I'd say after three, four weeks of practice almost everyone should be able to do it, if you're at least somewhat in shape.
>>
>>39579526
Oh OK. Does it take less or more time depending on whether you're aiming to do a front or back one?

>>
>>39579560
Yeah, in my experience backflip take more time to master because it seems counterintuitive to jump back instead of forward. If I were you, I'd learn the basics with a gymnastics coach, preferably in a safe environment (gym with mattresses or trampolines) and then you can keep practicing by yourself.
It's important to feel safe doing it, it's very much a mental thing.
>>
>>39579560
Backflip is easier, almost everyone says that, the problem is that it is scarier. Just find someone that can do a backflip in a trampoline.

I like having things that let me take time away from the PC without me having to go outside!

I like collecting leaflets, flyers, newspapers and other advertisements and cutting out cool pictures or fonts and making scrapbooks/collages

I also draw, sometimes traditionally, sometimes digitally.

I love puzzles and I have a collection of puzzles that have a jellyfish on them somewhere (I love jellyfish).

I also collect secondhand chrome transparency film images and stick them to light boxes so the pretty pictures come up, I like seeing little snapshots of other people's memories.

I also collect train tickets, milk chew wrappers, carved wooden elephants, golliwog dolls, loose motherboards/circuit boards and old cool packs of playing cards.

I think trying to come across all these things while I'm out doing shitty day-to-day tasks or on my way to work helps me look forward to something when I get home :)

I've had a read through and some of you have had some pretty awesome hobbies!!

>Martial arts for delicate women
That is something I wondered the other day. Historically, were there schols that taught martial arts to notable anmounts of women? Could a woman walk up to, say, the Shaolin temple, be accepted and start practicing a fitting martial art, alongside spiritual practice, much like a monk? I am curious because I never saw women martial aritists in movies with Chinese martial arts, while Japan wievs archery and fighting styles with the naginata as typically women s arts, but only since around the 17th century.

Weightlifting
Abusing animals
Bullying people
Pointing guns at people without the ammo inside and telling them it won't hurt and not to move just to watch them panic.
Kickboxing
Combat Sambo
Kali knife drills and knife throwing.
Complaining about everything even tho nothing matters, but I still want to annoy everybody around me.
Splitting wood with an axe.
Feeding street animals that are really scared of me and slowly becoming friends with them over long periods of time, then hammering their head in.
Jerking off

Damn I never thought I was so interesting.
