MGS2 is incredible but the bomb-disposal sequence alone puts it firmly below MGS3.

3 is the best of the series and maybe best game of all time. it's really deep and snake is a very sympathetic character. and yah he's a robot too.

I always loved that scene where he pushes that girl away in the cave when she tries to kiss him. i wish i could be that way.

To answer your question thouroughly: He's a failed normie. He has mental illness problems and prefers to be alone. However, he flirts with every female on his codec list in MGS1, with both females reciprocating. Also, he sleeps with an 18 year old girl (implied to be a virgin) when he's 33 (unless you get the non-canon ending) in MGS1. He's a pariah in the international community and wanted for many crimes, yet everyone he knows in person admires him, even his enemies. However, he only has one sexual relationship that we know of, and it ends quickly. The rest of his sexual experience is jerking off to porno mags. Eventually, his accelerated aging leaves him old and alone, and pretty much everyone but him gets a happy ending in MGS4. I think the closest MGS protagonist to being a robot would be Venom Snake from MGSV, although even he has a woman who loves him and an army of devoted followers.

Metal Gear 3 is the best in terms of the "main game" but but Metal Gear 2 Substance has the best bonus content. Can we take a second to appreciate the fact that Kojima made a ripoff Tony Hawk skateboarding game, complete with early 2000's ska and hip-hop soundtrack and an "X-TREME" announcer?

Also OP you can feel comfort in knowing that Snake is just Kojima living out an autistic fantasy of being a secret agent/action hero, so you don't need to feel guilty
