The Anno games come very close to Civ in my opinion though

i like civ 4...i got up to prince difficulty..i can't see how i get past that. i was constantly at war conquering other people and still barely managed to win when i had 3/4 of the map.

I know that slow paced is fun for most people but i love aoe2.
Comfy as hell and decently fast early game to get ready for late game strategy and micro.

It's simplified the game a lot, sometimes the AI can be kind of stupid, some of the starter division templates are total garbage like all of France's divisions, A lot of the stuff is not a problem in multiplayer games though.
