Do you even know what a mercy shot is? Firing squads don't aim at the head. They aim at the heart. Do you know that getting shot doesn't guarantee immediate death? A doctor is supposed to check your pulse after the shot and in case you are still alive, a higher rank officer will shoot your head, close range. And guess, this happens commonly. It's far from the most humane way.
The lethal injection would be the closest to painless death as an execution could ever get. If the conspiracies about the sodic tiopenthal are untrue, of course.

With every method of execution it makes me think theres going to be at least a second of knowing that you will absolutely be dead. Maybe one day they can slip a super powerful death pill millions times stronger than cyanide or something in my food so I just die within 20 minutes or something without even telling me

I'd want to be asphyxiated with some inert gas like helium or nitrogen. Since the body can't detect a lack of oxygen, just a buildup of CO2, I would just get tired, fall asleep, and never wake up.
