It's a strategy sci-fi game, in short you create your own civ and establish your people in a galaxy. From research and exploration to diplomacy and war, there are many things you can do, it's kind of similar to the Civilization series if you know that.

But HoI 4 is much harder to understand, I've always just looked at the screen dumbfounded and not knowing what to do when trying it, whereas in Stellaris everything is pretty self-explanatory after reading the action description. Also nice dubs

I know how stellaris works, just in every game I end up being the smallest empire in the game with nowhere to expand. HOI is easy if you give it time because the AI is dumb as shit

I play on normal. I rush ahead of everyone in research because my species are intelligent and fanatic materialist, but my empire isn't large enough to maintain a large fleet

Then beating other's armies should be easy, though. As long as you have a balanced fleet the advantage of better weapons alone should enable you to beat an armada up to 3 times your fleet's score and claim new lands.
